"I was inspired by the great will of the Korean public when facing their government concerning the issue of the Sewol Ferry. Even when times were extremely difficult and prospects seemed hopeless, the public fought to the end so that the victims of the incident will continue to be remembered. Thus, I hope that I am able to convey the strength and unity of the Korean people as a result of this tragedy. The blue waves descend into darkness, representing the authorities who worsened the incident, and also the overwhelming sense of loss the Korean people experienced. But from the bottom of this spiral are two hands holding an intact boat, which is still glowing with life. The victims and their lives are lived on to this day, even seven years later, by those who continue to remember this tragic occurrence. The people refuse to let the lessons from this day to be forgotten. Surrounding the boat and hands are nine stars, representing the nine lives that were not recovered. And although their physical bodies may not be on Korean land, their souls still shine brightly.

세월호 문제와 관해 정부와 대립했을 때 한국 국민들의 강한 의지에 큰 감명을 받았습니다. 시대가 극도로 어렵고 그 어떤 희망도 보이지 않았을 때조차 국민은 희생자들이 계속 기억될 수 있도록 끝까지 싸웠습니다. 그래서 저는 제 작품이 한국 국민의 힘과 단합을 제대로 표현하고 전달 할 수 있기를 바랍니다. 어둠에 감싸인 푸른 파도는 사건을 악화시킨 당국과 한국 국민이 경험한 상실감을 상징합니다. 하지만 이 나선의 바닥에는 여전히 생명으로 빛나는 온전한 배를 잡고있는 두손이 있습니다. 희생자들과 그들의 삶은 7년이 지난 지금까지도 이 비극적인 참사를 계속 기억하는 사람들에 의해 살아지고 있습니다. 사람들은 이 날을 교훈을 잊는 것을 거부합니다. 배와 손을 둘러싼 9개의 별은 아직 수습하지 못한 9명의 생명을 나타냅니다. 비록 그들의 육신이 한국의 땅에 있지 않을지라도, 그들의 영혼은 여전히 밝게 빛나고 있습니다.
