I painted this because I really want people to know that it was really unfair that people who had a future and life ahead of them were lost. My inspiration for this painting was all the people on that ship were different but they were lost and that it was a tragedy for many different people. I did not know anyone on the ship nor did my family but even thinking about the people lost makes me so sad. And I feel so deeply for the people who knew the victims on the ship. I don't really want the answer to the title I guess it just means why were people with a future a life people who cared about them lost.

앞으로 살아갈 미래와 삶이 있는 사람들이 한순간 생명을 잃는 다는것은 참 불공평하다는 것을 사람들이 알았으면 해서 이 그림을 그렸습니다. 이 그림에 대한 영감은 배에 있는 모든 사람들이 다 다르지만 그들은 생명을 잃었고 그것은 많은 다른 사람들에게 비극이었다는 것입니다. 저나 저희 가족들은 배에 타고 있는 사람 그 누구도 모르지만, 많은 사람들이 생명을 잃었다는 것만으로도 너무 슬픕니다. 그리고 배에 타고 있던 희생자들을 알고 있는 사람들에게 깊은 마음을 느낍니다. 저는 제 작품 제목에 대한 답을 원하지 않습니다. 제목 자체가 왜 밝은 미래를 가진 사람들이 삶을 잃어야만 하는지를 의미하는 것이니까요.
